Headed to sportsmans today to buy the Hornaday ELD-X 212 grain bullets.  I was uber frustrated with the accubonds LR's and really wasn't that impressed with the 200 grain accubond in this particular rifle.  Loaded 5 different powder loads with recommended OACL (running short on time).....76.5 grains of H1000 posted a 5 shot group of .71".  Now to tweek and play with the seating depth a little more and HOPEFULLY have a round this rifle likes.

Sooooooo.......never shot the ELD-X before.....Good or Bad??

My rifle LOVES the ELD-X.... but its a 6.5 shoots the 140s like a champ. 5/8" groups all day

I used to shoot the same load with 210 bergers and 76.5gr h1000/cci 250’s.  Es was 6 if I remember correctly.

The only use I’ve found for the ablr is in my daughters 7-08 for a reduced recoil load. Stuffed the case with us869.  2000 FPS MV.  Accurate, low recoil and expands well at lower velocity. Punches clean through white tails at 40 yards too!

Just a friendly PSA here. Remember to check your bullet seater in your die in relation to a new bullet. Some bullets are too long for some dies and you end up trying to seat the bullet from the tip which can result in inconsistencies. I know this isn't news to most but it can be overlooked when trying the new, low drag stuff.  :twocents:

Might want to seat off the ogive.

Always do.  I found out these bullets are super easy to load for.  I have one final test next week at 300 yards.  Currently .020 and .060 off the lands are almost identical groupings at 100 and 200 yards.  .015 was a good group at 100 but opened up quite a bit at 200 yards.  Every other grouping from .02 to .10 off the lands shot pretty darn good.

How does a good load at 100 not shoot well at 200?  Angles presumably don't increase over distance  :dunno:

Windy?

Thought this was the 190, not the 210 ...  :chuckle:

More power to anyone who's got the patience for the ABLR  ;)

Isn’t jrebel shooting the 212 Eld x now? Or still the ablr?
