Which bull gets your arrow?
« on: August 21, 2018, 06:22:50 PM »
Finally got around to pulling my elk cams. Got some great bulls on cam but these two are my favorite, which would you prefer? The Heavy 6 has my heart.

if I truly had the choice.... if only....  I would go for the one that looks like it has the most and best quality meat.  But you are probably looking for input from guys who actually harvested many elk and are actually getting picky....

Either.....the 7 has weak 3s but huge 4's.  The 6 has bigger 3's but weak 4's........all helllll who am I kidding, I would shoot whichever presented first.   What about the one in the middle....does he have a set of nuts??  Maybe he gets shot first when he turns broadside.

6. He looks like a more mature bull. 7 looks younger.

The one which fills my freezer.

Im doing the same thing to myself. Checking cams, looking at bulls and trying to pick the one I want, when ultimately (if Im given the opportunity at a clean shot) the decision is not really up to me.

Nice bulls though.

What Cryder said,   Well I think so at least  :chuckle:

If I get an Elk like either of those in my sites I will:
1. Try not to panic
2. Probably panic
3. Start over at step #1
4. Take the first shot I am able to muster.
5. With any luck celebrate and get ready for a lot of work.
In God we trust, all others bring cash.

Do not say, Why were the old days better than these? For it is not wise to ask such questions.

If they were all together with good shot presentation, I'd drop the smallest one. I know call me crazy, but I hunt alone so I would go after the one that is easiest to manage after the shot.
