Nice bucks!
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter

Great buck!  Love the old Nova bows.  I don't get all the hype about new bows.  The technology doesn't change that much and the older bows still get the job done.  Don't think a dead deer is going to tell the difference

Still on a high from this one Sunday morning. Buddy spotted three bucks. We bedded the bucks mid morning  and after finally bedding for a third time in a spot we figured they would stay put for a bit. He was able to  slip in to 40 yards above the bucks with a stiff breeze in his face and some noisy leaves masking his approach, meanwhile I crept into position on their escape route where they were spending their evenings. After getting into position he tossed a couple pebbles to attempt to get the big boy to stand and instead of standing and presenting a shot they bolted from their beds. The two smaller bucks ran down the wash and crossed the creek, the bigger buck sensed something wasnt right and doubled back. Coming up the ridge and sidehilling below me. He had one open flat to cross and I ranged in front of where I thought he would step out. I saw antler tips coming through the sage and knew the shot opportunity wouldnt last long. He stopped short of where I had ranged, I guessed 50 and drew as he came into the opening. He paused to take one look back at my buddy and I settled my pin. The wind was perfect and he had no idea I was there. An instant after he stopped and my pin was settled behind his shoulder the arrow was on its way. On impact he kicked like a mule and spun 180 degrees. I could see the arrow hanging out the backside of his offside shoulder just behind the crease, only the fletchings holding it inside the hide. In one bound he was out of sight and then silence. I gave him a few minutes and glassed the exit routes out of the area. Still not comprehending how lucky the whole situation was that the big buck doubled back.  No movement. My buddy worked his way around the hill below me and glassed ahead as I kept an eye out for any movement. I crept forward and immediately found frothy red blood on the grass then I heard my hunting partner. "Dead buck laying 40 yards away!" I came around the tall sage and could see the buck laying ahead in the grass dead. After hunting hard in Montana for 9 days and not filling a tag the feeling of total relief and redemption swept over me. All the frustration and exhaustion of that last 9 days disappeared as I lifted his rack from the grass and thanked him for his life and thanked the big man upstairs for a quick death. He's no monster by HW standards, but he's my best archery buck and my first to make the P&Y minimum. I couldnt be happier and feel blessed to have the opportunity. Especially because I contemplated just cruising all the way home and not stopping an extra day to hunt on my way home from Montana. But my girlfriend convinced me Id be restless early sunday morning and upset I came home early. She was right and Im glad she knows me so well. It all panned out.

Pat...I'm the other guy he knows named Clint. I think you met my wife at the WSF banquet last year because she convinced Pat to go in my place because I was out of town for work.
