Bethel Quality Bull Muzzleloader
« on: September 19, 2018, 12:19:24 PM »
I am a first-year college student who was fortunate enough to draw this tag after many years of entering.  I have done a few scouting trips but would greatly appreciate any advice regarding the area because my time is limited due to starting college.  This is my first significant tag and I really want to make the most of it so any advice is welcome.  Thank you in advance and good luck this year!

Your tag will be great as rut is in full swing. Anywhere will be good.

Usually when I bring in the most bulls down here in that country.   It’s a great tag.

When does the tag start?

It starts the 29th of September and goes through the 7th of October. Unfortunately, i start school the 26th so i might only have weekends to hunt.

Listen for the bugles and go straight at them.

I would give a body part to have that tag.

Like, an appendix or something.

Seriously, hunt it hard.  You'll have ample opportunity to seal the deal.  Hope you have good boots!

Bethel is an interesting tag.  Not much for top end trophy quality but a 6pt in that 270-310 range is a respectable animal on that tag.  Theres roads literally everywhere so use them to your advantage.  I was just in there with an archery tag.  Had to work so only got weekends and then a few hours every evening.  1 or more encounters literally every single day......all from the road.  Passed some o.k. bulls and had a few shooter bulls that were smarter than me or I didn't have enough light to seal the deal.  Fun tag for sure.

If you find yourself in the unit during the week and need a caller for an evening hunt hit me.  Love that time of the year

I had the archery tag last season and know a few guys with it this season. I am off to Montana until the end of the month but if you are struggling to find some elk, shoot me a pm and I can help

If you can make this work time wise, Karl is like an elk whisperer. I know first hand how good he is and feel fortunate to have had him calling for my tag 2 years ago.

Jim and I had a great hunt together! It took us like all 30 minutes to fill his tag

Thank you guys for all the offers of help!  I might need to take you up on them if I really struggle.  Id like to do as much of it by myself as I can because I want to learn but also I could use the assistance.  Any particular areas that you would recommend?

doesnt matter.  Bulls are cruising in search of cows that have not yet been bred so you should be cruising as well.  Cover country and chase bugles
