It's mine!

I think it was blued, but it might be stainless.  I'm not sure.

Plastic stock - but I might have put the wood stock on for this hunt.   Can't recall.

I don't remember exact caliber.   It was somewhere in the 24-38 caliber range.

Round barrel with a hole all the way through the length of it.

Only one trigger....   Kind of on the bottom.

Lost in Eastern Washington.

Seriously, good on you both for trying to reunite the rifle with the owner.

Is it in good shape, or well weathered and rusty?

Had a guy I took hunting many years ago leave a rifle on a mountain on purpose. He got into some extreme country and feared he would fall off a cliff so he left it. Always wondered if it’s ever been found. He would not go back to attempt to retrieve it.

Kudos to the OP's friend for attempting to find the owner. Be careful of transfer laws in how you post the handling of said firearm. Gun guys are targets in WA. Well done, though.

We all know somewhere someone is sick over this!!! What a terrible feeling. Hope you find the poor soul who lost it. Wonder if it was reported stolen once it came up missing?

My memory sucks. How about you tell me what it looks like and model/caliber and I'll tell if it's mine.

My buddie turned it over to the Yakima County sheriffs Department, apparently he found it in the road in the case

:yeah: this is the best way to attempt contact in my opinion.

I never thought it could happen to me. But several years ago I came back to a gate to find a smashed window in my rig, and stolen dufflebag with credit cards etc....... In the dark and hurry to get back to cell service, I left the gun leaning against a tree. I realized my mistake about an hour later and rushed back to find the rifle gone and no one in the area. I figured it was gone but called the local police and filed a missing report with description etc..... That was late October. The day before late buck a trooper called me and asked for a description and location and sure enough the gun had been turned in by a good Samaritan and got back to me. Coolest story ever. I always wished I would have got some info, but the trooper had no idea who the person was.

Hope it works out for this guns owner as well! And kudos to the guys turning it in

Dan-o, 24- 38 Caliber range? I thought for sure it was your's as everything matched.......Oh Rat's, it looks like it is a 50 Caliber, better guess next time.  :dunno:  :chuckle:
