Your Dream Tag?
« on: October 03, 2018, 08:17:16 PM »
I started putting in for the premier tags here in WA a few years ago and have been watching my points grow. Mountain Goat, Sheep, Quality Elk etc. I plan on beginning to put in for some of the more "sought after" hunts across the west. People dream of shooting ibex in New Mexico, Desert Big Horns, Utah Elk, etc. Picking and choosing which ones to start putting in for is overwhelming and understanding what the premier units are in other states can be tough to figure out.

What is your dream tag to draw? What are the absolute toughest tags to draw? What are the most premier units in the country and what species?

Should be a fun topic to hear everyone talk about.. especially cause it is in other states! Not our "secret spots!"

If I could have any tag, it would be a black tail tag for  November 1 st until nov 10th in Hancock !! I know I should say a moose tag somewhere or an elk tag in the blues but damn, the old grey ghost has had its hooks in me since I was able to understand what a black tail deer was  :chuckle:

Hoping to draw a moose tag and a goat tag somewhere in the west by the time I'm 35.

If there's ever a chance to hunt grizzly bears in the lower 48, that'd be my overall dream tag.

LOL.

 :hello:

I doubt you'll apply there.   You already know they shot the last bull in the unit.

Between that and the Bumping being utterly laid waste, where can a guy even find an elk in Washington?

I am going to put in as well. I heard there are bulls everywhere and all you have to do is call every 3 minutes and you will get bulls running in. Probably have our group of 8 rifle guys put in for the archery permit. Sounds like an easy unit to learn archery in.

I don’t think a stand would help much, just prolong the inevitable as it would just wait for you to freeze to death and fall out.❄️

What little I’ve read about polar bear hunting is that your not hunting them, you just kill them before they kill you, your the hunted one.😉

I’d like another mountain goat tag somewhere or a 4th season Colorado mule deer tag in a good unit. I don’t know what unit. Just a good one. If anyone can suggest a good one, I’m all ears.

Really easy, a Washington State general OTC deer tag...

IN the Methow, back in the 50,s or 60,s, at least pre North Cascade pass opening. Lots of deer, not a lot of hunters, heck not a lot of people in the valley period. Man we got some monsters back then on a regular basis, nothing to see 200 head a day with 20 to 30 of those being bucks, and yes, that was everyday during the season. That was a heck of a tag

Mine would be a good elk tag with a legitimate shot at a 340 or better bull and some buddy’s to go help me.

Hopefully you draw as a group so they can be allowed to help.
