Sorry for the thread jack but I appreciate all the input from the resident gun guys. Would like to hear more on the performance of the 7wsm/180’s from a built tikka?🤔
throat it long on a 26"+ barrel and shouldn't be too hard to achieve.  I run the 185's out of my 300wsm at 3110.

I'm running the 180gr Berger's 3088-3100 from my 7mm Blaser Mag built on a Rem LA 700 with a 26in Hart #4, if you're looking for 7mm ideas.

What input do you have on bottom metal.  I am looking at HS Precision detachable magazine bottom metal, mainly for longer cartridges.  Bit pricey, but if there are no other reasonable options I dont mind paying.

I like my Hawkins bdl bottom metal and Wyatt’s box. If I was going detachable it would be one of the ai pattern options

This is the first I googled up.

I wouldn't mind ai if they had a mag that was flush. Curtis custom might make something like that.

The seekins rifles have a decent looking mag system on them. I been meaning to look into it more.

Yeah, nothing easy.  Need to figure out bottom metal before I can order the stock.

If you want flush then bdl floor plate is the best option imo

I want to go with detachable mags.  All else fails I will go hinged floor plate.

I have a few rifles with HS Det. mags and they've been great, they feed well and are nealy flush across the bottom of the stock but in the long actions they are more limited for long OAL's.  I don't remember off the top off my head but my LA one only allows for an OAL of a little over 3.600.  I have a Seekins det. mag setup on my 300AX and it'll go all the way out to 3.900 but I'm not sure Seekins still makes those and it sticks down much further than my HS setup does.

Ya HS Gen 2 in long action is- 3.70.  That can work but really isnt any longer that my stock mags.  I was hoping for a little more wiggle room.  Current cartridge COAL is 3.5 and I would like to push that out a bit, but had some feeding issues.  I looked at Wyatt's and theirs are 3.7 also.

looks like they're working on an extended one.

Doesn't that require some milling on the action?

so does a wyatt's.  If you are having a rifle BUILT, then a bit of action milling isn't even something to blink at
