Biggest beaver tail contest
« on: November 03, 2018, 10:26:48 PM »
Hey everybody, trapping season is upon us. Fur prices not so good so to give you a little extra incentive we are going to have a biggest beaver tail contest.
Rules are simple, post a picture of your biggest beaver tail here with some kind of measure (tape, ruler, what have you) showing the width of the tail. Widest tail wins. Make sure the measurement is clear. I don't want any arguments.
Prize: One of my 11x11x32 folding swimthrough traps. Contest runs until the 28th of March. I know not the end of season but a couple days before the Winter Rendezvous. I might be able to save postage if the winner attends.
So there you go, 5 months to come up with a giant beaver tail!
Let the contest begin!
WSTA wants your beaver tails so save them for us. Don't throw them away.

I'll pin this to the top after a couple days.

Was able to get to the 54 and the 52 before they were totally consumed.  52 was 1/2" wider than 54.  Here is the 52.  Bobby had him buried.

So here is a question:  is there a difference in tail shape/ relative width corresponding to the sex of the anima!?

Not that I have noticed. You need a better picture of the tail measurement for an entry. No way I can see that.

Not really sure. I start pealing them pretty quick and the tail was an after thought. I am expanding my beaver line tomorrow and hope to have more tails to measure.
