Looking for a new hunting dog
joe_dumy:
I lost my red setter this year and am finally ready to start looking for a new dog. I mainly hunt grouse, chukar, quail, rabbits and ducks. Thinking about a flusher this time. I sure enjoyed my english springer. But open to about any breed. Never trained a dog before but I am not in a financial position to pay for a trainer this time. So a dog that is easier to train then high drive setter that I got last time. Anyways hoping for suggestions for breeds and breeders. Open to started or finish dogs.
Wingin it:
Based on the description of what you like to hunt I think it would be difficult not to consider one of the longer haired German breeds. However Springers are awesome little hunting dogs! My first dog was a very driven Springer that was hell on the birds! Good luck in your quest.
WRL:
I have a very nice black female 10 weeks old (Lab). May point (dam points). Big girl and good looking.

We bred with one of this guys dogs, twice. He puts a lot of effort into his breeding. He's out of Portland. Be sure to refer us if you contact him, Islandgold Retrievers.
