Call Auction: Inlayed Hand Call - Son's First complex Inlay
« on: December 20, 2018, 06:28:18 PM »
Ok, going to run this here since the FB mods on that one group couldn't handle it...

My 12yo Son is starting to do pretty good building the pens. He got commissioned by a family member to build a fountain pen with a turquois inlay of a spider and web for a gift. He hadn't done anything with that complex an inlay before, so I told him he had to practice by turning out a hand call and doing the same inlay on it in moose antler.

This is that call body!

It's Walnut, and he turned it out from a round blank, did all the inlay, filling, and finishing. The only thing I'm going to do is voice it for you. (Either a distress voice, or a Cougar Whistle voice. Your Choice.)

I wanted to run it as AUCTION to let you set your own price, since it's his, and he did all the work.

Start it at $5 for shipping and you take it from there. End it Sunday at 7PM.

Thanks!

Where does the money go?  Is this a charity thing or just a cash for the young lad's fine work?  Either way I'll bump it to $20

Thanks guys, appreciated. Encourages him a lot!

This is just David getting some back out of his several days work... which I required him do before he tried it on a pen! I told him I’d get it sold for him after, but he had to do it for a trial run. He did some re-do’s on a couple spots and learned a lot about doing an inlay.

Not a charity, more in line with our homeschooling! We do lots of real life stuff in addition to “curriculum!”
