I’d go Toyota. I think sequoias are updating their body style next year so you may find some deals on them if you can wait a year. The sequoia is definitely a more compatible rig size wise to the Tahoe but a 4Runner can accommodate a family as well especially if you put a cargo box on top and they get a bit better mileage than the sequoia. Both Toyota drivetrains are extremely reliable.

4runner has that Torsen center diff (they used to, do they still?) and can't be flat towed.

Tahoe.
Does everything the Toy can do and does it better.
More comfortable, more power, real towing capability.
Toyota is the most overrated car on the road.

Lol couldn’t be more from the truth. The most bulletproof bad ass ride on the road and can’t be beat.
I love this response.
In all the excitement, I forgot my favorite example of how manly Toys are.

Hard choice...I went Tahoe...power to tow boat, trailer full of ATVs, or an occasional trailer load of hay. Also a huge factor for me, is leg room and overall comfort.

so here is my vehicle history
93 silverado
93 camero
01 sierra
01 tahoe
09 silverado

the only issue ive had was with the camero so its kind of irrelevant. the only issue i had was replacing the trans in the sierra, it was a 4L60E which was a common issue in the 99-06 chevy's. I know Allison transmission(best in the production business) expired their contract with dodge and chevy now puts them in their trucks idk about the SUV's (call a dealer and ask for a mechanic to verify). One thing to look at its rental car places like hertz. they sell their cars between 20k-40k at a really good price. I was going to do that for my silverado until i found a really good deal on my 09 and saved 20K. my tahoe ran  to 207k with no issues to me before trading it in. maybe this helps maybe not but its my  :twocents:

Mid 90’s throgh 2013 all GM vehicles....  Last GM was a 2013 GMC Denali with duramax.  Looked great and towed great, but the biggest POS I’ve ever owned.  Door gaskets leaked, dash rattled, rotors turned numerous times the first 20K due to “death wobble” while pulling trailer down a grade.  Finally threatened if they didn’t fix I was going to go right across the street and trade for a tundra.  They said sorry so I did.  Wife had a 2011 sequoia and I was impressed.  Now I have a 2014 Tundra,  wife later traded in her Sequoia and has a 2018 Tundra and 16 YO daughter has a 2006 4Runner and we’re all happy.

My daughter commented to me one day that “all her friends rigs have “only” 100k miles on them and hers has 139k! Is this OK”?  I asked her how many of them have mechanical problems and she said most of them.  She got it.

Only downside to Toyota is the fuel economy.

Thanks. Not too much price difference between 5 miles & 20k miles so it may make more sense to go new if going the 4 runner route.

2017 TRD OR Premium, no real complaints. MSRP was $41.5, got it for $3k off. Worst tank of gas 18.0, best 25.8 (highways at high elevation, average speed 55 I'd guess), average over the first 30k miles 21.4 (kept track with an app).
