There's been wolf sightings on game cameras in the Mt Baker wilderness for years now and I've HEARD that Washington Department of no Fish and no Game says there 'may be up to 3 wolves roaming from the skagit side of Baker to the whatcom side of Mt Baker' even though more than 3 different wolves have been seen on game cameras. Yet when you go to WDFW's website nothing has been updated since 2015 ....why? They obviously haven't stopped collecting data or spending our money. Do we not have the opportunity to see any of the data that's been collected in the last 4 years? Is there somewhere I can go to look at RELEVANT information from WDFW on the current wolf numbers and locations in our state? Are they only acknowledging the existence of wolves if they've confirmed a breeding pair to down play the REAL wolf numbers?

I saw my first Western WA wolf pic from a friends camera in late 2014 West of baker lake.  I documented 2 different wolves on my cameras in 2015 and another in 2016, the state has these photos.  I have personally seen at least 8-10 different animals between my cameras and friends cameras. One of those photos shows two wolves together.  Also, I got a direct report from two different hunters I know and saw the pictures from both of multiple sets of wolf tracks side by side in the snow, two totally different spots more than 20 miles apart, Skagit County.  Last fall on a mid-September morning I heard two unmistakeable wolf howls right before dawn that sounded like two different animals on opposite ridges from each other.  In my opinion, I think we could potentially have 20 or more animals in this county alone, I'm 100% sure we have one pack and I think it is very possible there is a second pack in southern Skagit/ Snohomish County.  The areas that showed evidence of a pack have taken a drastic drop in ungulate numbers.  The ecosystem was already exceeding carrying capacity for predators and a few wolves are certainly tipping it over the edge, I have one mountain that had a resident population of 20-30 blacktail deer, it has dropped to less than 5 in a period of two years.  Lots of trail cam data to back that up too.  Heres a fe western wa wolf pics from my cams, ignore the dates they arent correct.

Seen on Hwy 20 just west of Concrete in November, you don’t need to go step and deep to see them.😉

If I'm not mistaken that horse owner could have shot and killed them if they were in the process of attacking his horses right?

Western WA is still listed as federally endangered, I'm not sure if you can shoot to protect livestock? Anyone know for sure?

"The shooting has been deemed lawful by a preliminary investigation, according to Martorello. Although the Washington wolf plan does not allow private citizens to kill wolves, a subsequent WDFW commission rule allows for the killing of wolves caught in the act of attacking cattle, Martorello said.

“In areas of Washington where wolves are not listed under the federal Endangered Species Act, WAC 220-440-080 states the owner of domestic animals (or an immediate family member, agent, or employee) may kill one gray wolf without a permit issued by the WDFW director if the wolf is attacking their domestic animals,” according to a WDFW news release." --Quote of Donny Martorello, the wolf policy lead for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.--
