Cougar Kills, Fingers crossed UPDATED with Pic/Vid
« on: May 11, 2019, 07:08:25 PM »
Looking for morels today and found these. 2 kills 10 feet apart, both adult does, looked to only be 1-3 days old.
One deer was dragged across the gravel road to where its cached, which is only 20' off the road.

Dropped a couple cams on them so hoping to have some videos of the cat feeding soon.

PS, careful where ya camp, this was 30' from an unimproved camp spot  :o

This has been a great morel spot for us.....didn't look too much after finding these, spent more time on guard.

Curious why 2 kills so close together, thinking mom teaching littles? Ground wont show tracks.

He's still around. They get pretty possessive about their kills. Be careful.

I saw that same thing in the Clockum once. Found two cached spikes next to each other,  went looking around and found four more buried within a couple hundred yards of the first two.

I was up near Tonasket a couple weeks ago.  We got a shot at a Tom after it crossed a road.  My buddy missed it so we came back the next day and right there was a doe with everything eaten out of it and still had blood pooled/ not congealed in the rib cage.  Should have seen the claw marks on it and the punctures in the neck.  Impressive.

Pics from today. Both does were prego,  :'(  one had a single, one had twins. All the cat left of them was legs.

Videos were not the best. Had one of the 3/99 stealth cam qs12 on one deer, the cat drug it out of camera range during the night, cam was only 20 feet from carcass, but the cam did not trigger(it only triggered in daylight from birds) NOT impressed with my 1st ever non-Bushnell cam.  >:(

The Bushnell captured the only vids, cat came back for 3 nights in a row, always between midnight and 3am. It also appeared to be pretty worried about the red glow from the cam.
Kind of surprised it appeared to be solo, yet killed 2 deer so close to each other. Also did not eat as much of the deer as one would think, never really touched the front halfs, just part of the hind ends and all of the fetus'
Turkey vultures and ravens had a big presence during daylight hours. As of today, deer were rotten.
Last video was of 2 more deer that came thru, understandably pretty spooky.

Videos are 1 min long each, will get the best ones posted asap.
PS did find a few morels this time
