Since those of us lucky enough to draw a moose tag will only get to do it once, one thing that I did was look at as many pics of WA shiras bulls as possible. The more you can get from that unit the better  That will give you a good idea of what a small, average or really good bull is.  Then when you are hunting it will be very quick to see if the bull you are looking at meets your expectations, reality is all moose look big in person and most guys aren't used to passing up legal game in this state.  This hunt should offer that opportunity for you, of course if you see a huge bull first thing then don't pass but I wouldn't be afraid to look over a number of bulls till you find one you'll be happy with.  I passed on a number of bulls on my hunt before I found one that I really liked.  Had I not done my homework beforehand I probably would have ended up with one that wasn't as nice.

I've hunted the Mt Spokane North 2 of the last 3 years (daughter's youth cow moose tag & father's bull moose tag).  In terms of lodging both times we camped at Sedlmayers Spirit Lake Resort.  Once via tent and the second trip took the RV.  Many resorts are closed down that time of year but with this resort they run a restaurant year around, so I was able to camp affordably.  I was even able to keep my RV on site instead of hauling it back and forth across the state while I had to work in between hunting trips.

In terms of where to hunt, I agree the go to is to get the IEP pass and hunt both sides of Blanchard Hump and as another said, be sure to have a UTV or ATV available if Inland Empire closes the access gates.  In terms of moose numbers, both hunts proved to be more difficult than other OIL hunts I've been on.  The moose numbers are down considerably so in my opinion, the first bull moose you see that is at or near 40", I would seriously consider not passing it up.  In the end, both my daughter and my dad filled their tags and my Dad's bull was right at 48" but it took a lot of time, commitment and help from others to make it all come together.

Best of luck on your hunt.

Congrats on the tags! It’s been pretty slow so far. I’ve seen a few bulls but nothing over 32-35”. I drew the unit 2 Idaho tag. Hunting mostly Twin Lakes/Spirit Lake area. I agree with most, the population seems to be down.
The hunt has has been really fun so far. Hoping here soon I’ll run across that right bull!  :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL:

take a shoulder scapula or a wooden boat paddle . play the wind just like elk . beat the tar outta the brush and wait for that faint urrah sound , they may come in slow but its a blast . make sure you have the inland empire permit too. good luck to the ms.
My wife told me that I hunt way more than I did when we first got married. I said yeah I know isn't it great !
