Rimrock bull tag-modern
« on: June 23, 2019, 07:04:53 PM »
Anybody else on here have this tag. I was kind of looking at white pass outfitters. Its a 3 man minimum at 1200 per person for a fully supplied dropcamp. Im not one to pay for hunts, but out there its not a bad price and still self guided.

There is a real good chance of the higher country in the unit to be snowed out of. More years than not you wouldn’t be getting packed in there. Definitely have a plan B if your thinking of going that route.

You don't need to get packed in with that tag...good bulls all over that unit..and the Miriam fire changed some of the high county landscape.

I'm jealous.

Some beautiful elk country.

Best of luck!

Maybe im just panicking!! I had the same tag a few years ago and didnt fill it. I came close a couple times but didnt get a shot, its just so thick. They can be 50 yards from you and disappear in 2 steps. I was hoping o get to some country that was a tad more glassable. I scouted hard this weekend and saw lots of elk,  but i just cant find any elevation to glass into the thickness where i know they hide. It seems to be total luck when you stumble into them without being noticed in those ravines and drainages.  Its one thing to do it now, but a whole other level when you're dealing with post rut. But yes there are some great bulls in that unit, that being said, i would shoot the first one that gives me an opportunity this time around.

If you end up hunting lower elevations give some consideration to the drainage that is the north fork of the Tieton river. Heard a lot of bulls bugling in there over the years. And, you can get decent access from the road. This is all below the fire that was there last year on Round Mountain.

Hey Seatown, glad you get another chance to chase the bulls around. Did you have the permit in 2013 and we met at the gated road. Pm me if you get a chance.
