Did anyone fish the salmon opener on the coast this week end.

No but I heard it was slow.  The fish were nice if you found them.

I read the fish were out deep 250ft depth.  That is usual for the opener.

That's what I was thinking. The fish will be deep for awhile. Looks like I'll just leave the boat at home on this run, and work on the property.

hard to believe at Westport it is an hour run at least to get to 250 fow when I can launch at Pt Defiance and takes 30 seconds.  You going to wait until they get in close by the casino and other side of the sunken jetty?

I fished yesterday from La Push for bottom fish. The word was that there are very few salmon around. There are tons of Kings down off the Northern Cali coast, which has caused the prices to go down for the fish that are commercially caught here in WA. The other word was that there should be a huge Coho fishery in August and September.

I was curious if any coho were around.  Sounds like there are quite a few off the CR.

The fish should be in by about the middle of July ( I hope). I'd like to hit some kings up north, or even on the south side of the jetty. With the jetty I can fish for bass, and ling at the same time.

Mostly kings. But that's not saying I will put a silver in the box

Sounds like tons of coho off the CR and reports of lots around Westport too.  That million coho predicted back to the CR may just turn out to be true.

Sound like small as expected for this time of year. They’ll grow fast all summer but are always small this early.
