Crabbing!
« on: July 02, 2019, 07:52:30 PM »
Who’s going to brave the super low tides and crowds to go drop some pots in the sound this weekend? We are going Thursday morning before the low. Got 4 new pots all rigged up with new lines and snaps, lines wrapped up and tangle free, just gotta wait for the opener!

We're dropping pots Thursday night and pulling Friday morning before low tide. Super excited for crab again!

You guys ever try northern like minnow for crab bait! I always bring some over from the Columbia and they work amazing for crab bait! I catch them like crazy on chicken liver and load my pots up with them. Can't wait to make a trip over there for the opener in Bellingham and Birch Bay area later in August.happy crabbing all! And happy fourth of July week!

Got the new buoys labeled and everything stacked in the truck, going to take the big boat out of Edmonds to avoid the gnarly boat launch fiasco with this -3’ tide tomorrow afternoon. Can’t wait for some fresh dungies and rocks!

I saw all the boats stuck at the Everett marina.   :chuckle:  Guys were trying to back down to the mud, but then they were getting stuck.  No, loading boats and they had to wait for the tide.   :chuckle:

Never ceases to amaze me how many people don't check the tides before heading to the launch.  Pretty good entertainment though!

Southern Area 10 was a total bust for us on the 4th. Anybody find the crab in A10?

Pulled 6 pots this morning for 30 keepers. So happy we had friends in town that got their cards so we didn't have to throw any back! Lots of boats and lots of buoys.

Used northern pike minnows a few years ago and was the best bait I’ve ever seen! I’ve tried chicken, salmon skeletons, lingcod skeletons, cat food, ox tail and by far the best results I’ve ever had was the pike minnow!
My interpretation of the rules are open to interpretation.
Once I thought I was wrong but I was mistaken.

We ended up with 3 limits of dungies, and somewhere between 3-4 limits of red rocks in A10. Finding the rocks wasn’t a problem but finding the right beach for dungeness was a bit tougher. My wife and I like the rocks a bit better anyway so it all worked out!

Just finished our first few crab. Really just a salt water shakedown cruise in the new boat. Put a monster soft shell back and brought home a few. Got pots soaking overnight and will be gunning for a 3 man limit in the am. Fishing off har, got chicken and salmon carcasses soaking.

I've never seen as many soft shelled crabs as this year.  I'm tossing 3 or 4 soft ones back for every hard shell
