OK, the verdict is there is no verdict.  6 in the boat, 3 from each.  We had two pop off before I got to the rod and lost a couple on the reel in.  I would say White Lightning maybe had a slight edge of a bite or two, but it was one of the few times both rods were getting slammed about as equally as I remember.  Almost all the time one rod will significantly out perform the other.

I had to go to backup Pink Pounder as Pounder #1 got pounded and lost a hook somewhere between fish 1 and 3.

I was trolling faster than normal due to the huge outgoing tide, right at 2.5 SOG for all of the bites.  Play of the day was an aerial net on fish #6, I've tried it many times but this may be the first time I connected.

If you have kids or a desire to reel in pinks, this would be a real good time to go out.

On the bad news front, I blew a trailer spring going over the bridge north of Everett.  Karavan trailers in their infinite wisdom uses some type of proprietary spring you can only get from them - unlike 99% of the rest of the free world that uses normal springs you can buy locally and get back up right away.  So, I'm probably 7 days out of the water while I wait for the brown truck to show up.   :yike:  3 day shipping was an extra $138 :yike: :yike:

Be careful with the regs down on the Puyallup..  Unless I am reading something wrong, 12" minimum..  A 12" pink is considered an adult.  So limit is 2 pinks.  Only way to get to 6 is with jack kings or silvers and only 1 pink on the stringer.

SALMON Aug. 15-Dec. 31 Min. size 12". Daily limit 6. Up to 2 adults may be retained. Release chum and wild Chinook.

Adult Salmon In freshwater and Marine Areas 2-1 and 2-2, Chinook 24" or more in length; coho 20" or more in length; and pink, chum, and sockeye salmon 12" or more in length, are adults

Anyone hook into any fish on the puyallup yet? Was down Purdy low yesterday and only seen one fish caught... no hook ups for me.

Yeah, 1500# slips.  Like this but not broken.

I'm tempted to find a shop that can rip the old springs and mounts off and put new ones on.  The old ones are only clamped to the frame, so if I had time and knew what I was doing I would go another route.  The shop in Everett I took it to had no interest in selling me new springs and clamps.

The fruit stand hole on the Puyallup was on fire today tons of pinks caught and a few kings mixed in as well.  My brother got a nice 14lb king and a pink and I got 2 pinks.  Between the both of us we probably hooked 40-50 fish.  Everyone up and down the river were hooking up/catching fish.

Yeah, he knew his stuff and basically said I’m at the mercy of the trailer builder.

Good deal, wonder how decent it is higher up yet, hate fishing shoulder to shoulder. So many rude people now a days. Not worth the fight! Cannot wait for the carbon to open!

Fish and chips with pinks is much better than I expected, we did tempura last night.  Pinks seem to be much milder and the family can't get enough.

Launched out of Everett with 2 buddies at 5:00 this morning. The plan was to troll coho gear and see what happened. Green and white spatterback hoochie on one rod and a kingfisher spoon on the other. Tried to fish the baitbox but to much grass in the water. Moved over toward shipwreck and started hitting fish here and there. Once we had 4 pinks in the boat we moved to the west side of possession bar to search for coho. Had a nice one on that we lost about 20 feet from the boat. Classic coho arial acrobatics. Released a couple pinks so were could keep fishing. Didn't seem to get anymore coho action so we kept the next 2 pinks we caught for our limits and called it a day.

Decent quick trip....only about 2 hours on the water......went 1 for 5 with the rookie wife on the rod for them all. Bonked a nice buck, pulled 5 nice crab, all good. They are imo running bigger this cycle. Lots of jumpers and schools visible on the surface. Fun quick trip, back out in the am.

Reports out of Edmonds dry dock was a hot day for pinks around kingston and jeff head. Took my 2 and 4 year olds out for their first trip ever after the noon tide change. My 2 year didnt want to go over about 8 mph so cut the plans to crab and fish around point no point for coho and went to the oil docks instead. Into immediate fish and caught 6 pinks in about 45 minutes trolling around the same area. Only had 1 shake off the line.

Kept 2 since i had the only catch card. They all got to reel some in then lost interest after about 30 minutes. Couldn't have asked for a better fishing experience for them! Called all but 5 hook ups while looking at the sonar, so they thought that was cool too.

All coho gear too....Purple haze flasher, PH coho killer, about 55 feet down going 3mph.
