I love how they start by saying such attacks are rare, and then finish the article by saying the wolves in the area are aggressive with humans and start listing off the escalation of attacks on people. It would have been more accurate to state that such attacks used to be rare but are now happening once or twice per year. Not considered a significant number in the grand scheme of things but still indicative of wolves being capable of habituating with then attacking humans.

It is just like the reports that wolves to not effect the livestock industry.  Unless you are in the area with several hundred thousand dollars worth of loss, eastern Washington.

A wolf was euthanized after attacking a camper early Friday morning in Banff National park, in what federal officials and a wildlife biologist call an unusual incident.

The camper was inside a tent at Rampart Creek campground on the Icefields Parkway when the attack happened around 1 a.m.

The camper’s hand and arm were injured. After reporting the incident, the camper was transferred to hospital.

Parks Canada said in a statement that no significant wildlife attractants or food were found inside the tent or the immediate vicinity.

the "attractant" was the person

Maybe his sweaty pits smelled like Cheetos? I stopped solo camping in my pup tent in the Colville area because I'm a sissy and don't want to get eaten. At least I can point to this article and say it does happen, and be thankful the article wasn't about me.

It doesn't fit their agenda so not much will be telivised about it. When it's time to hunt these predators down the liberal tree huggers will have a fit and the game department will bow down to them.

To be fair, the camper was likely old and injured. Wolves are nature's cleaners.

I read it was a family that was attacked- a man in his 30's was injured, was camping with wife and two younger kids.He was injured protecting his family, the wolf attacked through their tent in the night while they were sleeping.

didn't believe the initial watered down report i expected something much worse (like this) would be told but not ever make it to the level needed.

We are already past the point of hunters effectively managing wolves .......  even if they were cast in the lot with coyotes, wolves would prevail and expand.  WDFW knows that.

Without hounds and baiting, we are loosing control of big cats and bears.  Cats should also be thrown in with coyotes (and wolves) and hunted the same way.  I think with more opportunity and hunter participation, bears can be managed by hunters in the long term.

Coyotes, wolves, and big cats should all be classified as predators and hunted as such, 24/7 365.

Oh, but they through everyone a carrot .... a bear in August, or two of them.   That shows us hunters they are listening right, or they are managing predators better.     :chuckle:

Its a start.  You really think they would ever do a full 180 on all their predator policies over night?

If they werent listening it wouldnt have happened, now it needs to be taken advantage of if there are to be any results for the better.
