Tuna report
« on: August 29, 2019, 10:53:20 AM »
Trip report from Westport this Monday. My son and I fished with Far Corners, first time out with these guys. Captain and deckhand worked hard for us all day in fairly rough conditions. They were really good about giving advice but letting us do the fishing. We ended up with plenty of tuna (around 30 for 5 of us) and had a couple of stops with everyone hooked up and fish eating baits right at the boat. Great trip and quality outfit. Year’s supply of loins in the freezer to supplement our elk and deer. If you have never tried albacore fishing, you should do it at least once!
There is not enough wilderness left in the world, or in the hearts of men.

Well, that was a blast. We put 70 on the boat. 60 of them came in an epic 3 hr bait stop to end the day, the screen was lit up with fish when we left, caught a couple on jigs as we were running out of bait. Thanks benhunting for taking those seats, made the trip that much better.

Fished out of Bandon, Oregon yesterday with Prowler Charters. 10 people on the boat landed 121 Albacore Tuna. Great fishing! $220 a person. Super reasonable.

Wow, that must really be a bloodbath on the back of the boat.  It's on my bucket list and I'm going to have to make it happen one of these days.

It was a blood bath, felt sorry for the deck hand Will, the deck hose pump went out. Couldn't tip that man enough. Great guy.

A friend went out on his own out of Astoria, skunked on albacore but boated a 40+lb Bluefin.  Don't think he's too bummed out
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.
