Straights fished well this morning. Had to get threw the natives for 2 limits on hatchery fish. Hatchery fish definitely a lot smaller. Lots of 7+ natives with largest in the low teens. Fished anchovies, hoochies and spoons. from 65 to 100 ft.

Glad to hear they are still on their way.  I have my fingers crossed that 8-2 and 9 will load up before the derby as my wallet would prefer I don't run to 10 all the time.  It would also be helpful to spread the fleet around a bit.

Short bite off the beach west side of Whidbey this morning. 10 guys landed 10 fish, most of which were hatchery. I was lucky and landed 3 of them.

How was the water over there?  We got a pretty good blow going on right now.

Early was glass. Wind started picking up about 11:00. We left shortly after. I imagine once the tide turned, it got snotty.

Really bumpy out of West Point this morning.  Probably should have stayed home but we did pick one up in 55’ of water on an AceHi fly at 10:00 AM.  Nice 6 pound or so hatchery buck.  That was it though.

No more then five or six boats were out around us.  Hoping for a big push next weekend.

I was one of the few out there with you yesterday, caught one keeper on a diver with plug cut.  Couldn't keep the shakers off of the downriggers.

The 8-2 Summer Fishery area is now closed and will be for the derby.  Just wanted to make sure everyone knew that.

I could only imagine the amount of boats that will be running the edmonds/oil docks without that area open.

It will be bumper boats for sure.  If I didn't have a relative that really wants to go I would bag it for sure.  It has to be a huge challenge for the derbies to chase around and guess what WDFW will be doing from year to year.

My guess is there will be a bunch of people in 8-2 as well as north of the actual 9/10 line keeping unclipped fish.  Without constantly watching gps, I have a hard time keeping in 10 sometimes and the 8-2/9 boundary mixes a ton of people up as well.

For sure, WDFW could make their yearly quotas checking boats in the 9 boundary for fins caught in 10, and those boats with fish on board fishing in the 8-2 summer fishery zone.

Really good incoming tides this weekend, Double Bluff/Useless Bay or Point no Point to Pilot Point maybe a way to get away from the big crowds, but they are a decent run away from Everett.

How about some love from the river guys...  I know the Puyallup has been productive and I fished it for years, just can't bring myself to go back this year..  Pink years there are horrible with crowds and when they run into a few silvers they never leave!!  Nisqually has been SLOW where I fish but i think lower they have done a little better.

Fished yesterday morning, hooked 3 and landed one. Fish checker said we were the only ones with a fish so far.

On that note, a friend fished Bush and caught 7, they kept 3 hatchery 4-5lb’s. Released wild fish all close to 10.

Seems they may be down any day then.
The things that come to those who wait, may be the things left by those who got there first!
