It will be bumper boats for sure.  If I didn't have a relative that really wants to go I would bag it for sure.  It has to be a huge challenge for the derbies to chase around and guess what WDFW will be doing from year to year.

My guess is there will be a bunch of people in 8-2 as well as north of the actual 9/10 line keeping unclipped fish.  Without constantly watching gps, I have a hard time keeping in 10 sometimes and the 8-2/9 boundary mixes a ton of people up as well.
i'm getting pretty close to bagging it and going grouse hunting..
i hate crowds, just about as much as i hate crowded launches.

The weather is starting to look a little dicey for the Everett Derby on Sat-Sun.  We fished it last year and it was NOT fun on Sunday.  We kept asking ourselves "Why are we out here?".  We caught fish on Sunday, but we were questioning our sanity the whole time...............

Yeah, it’s that time of year for sure.  Running 15 miles into gusts approaching 30 for a 5 pound salmon make a guy think twice.

Anyone going out tomorrow?  I'm on a solo mission.

By the way, if you fish the derby, buy tons of popcorn from the scouts on Sunday at the awards party, the money goes to help a ton of kids that would never be fishing if it wasn't for the program.

Good weather out there today. Lots of boats from Shilshole to Edmonds. We boated 3 fish today, lost a really nice fish at the boat (broke the leader) and released 6 shakers, one of those we probably could of kept on a bad day🤣. I tried the tip in the water method and swim the fish into the net, worked like a charm, great tip thanks a lot guys! We tried the usually set ups of spoons and hoochies and that wasn’t working, switched over to a Yakima spin bait and bam, fish on. Got that one in the boat and 10 mins later, bam, another fish on! Then the bite went off as fast as it came on. Overall good day, caught some fish, saw some bald eagles, porpoises and orcas.

Don’t sweat the orcas, they only eat chinook.

Hooked a few today in 11 starting late at 10am, only managed to boat one about 5lbs.

Heading out at first light in the morning.
The things that come to those who wait, may be the things left by those who got there first!

What depth and speed is everyone fishing at? We had most of our success around 60-70 feet at 3.1 MPH.

Crushed the shakers, not much going on at Edmonds.  Just when I thought I knew how to fish.
