Do some research off the WDFW website under Average Game Bird Harvests by county (2014-2018) or in print on p.33 of the current regs. A cross referencing with maps of the MT. Baker Snoqualamie NF and the Olympic NF will put you in some Westside areas.

1 September 2019, first grouse with my new 20ga. Nice taking it on the wing. Any one know why Weyerhaeuser does not want dogs on their property until 01 December?

Also, practicing posting a picture from tap talk following KFhunter's advice. Now, to see if I can do this starting my own topic instead off replying to some one else's topic, baby steps.

US-2 is a great spot for Blue's higher up and Ruff's in the Alders. NO Dog needed just a sharp eye and ear's!

I would call Weyco and ask about that. They do mention the pursuit of upland game birds is allowed per state regulations under the dog rules section. That can be interpreted as stating that bird dogs are okay.

If they really aren’t allowed that makes their lands even less appealing. It’s bad conservation.

Numbers seem to be up US-2 and north. Finally got out and into some ruffs last weekend. Can't hit em for piss but nothing gets my heart going like a grouse flushing in close.

So I was thinking about heading off of hwy 2 soon. I got my first and only grouse last year up near at the top of the pass on a logging road off of I90. I have hunted that area and just havent seen much. Any suggestions off of 2? Im not asking for your spots just areas that might be worth hiking around that could hold grouse. I dont mind the leg work but it is would awesome to see a grouse!

Skykomish to the north, (FS 6700) & lots of FS branch roads. It goes from Alder forest to Alpine.
Have not hunted this area since the mid 2000's but is a good bet,,,Blue's and Ruff's + Bobcats too! Just gas up the buggy! Watch out for soft road sides too! Some edges are 1000' down! Be careful, beautiful country out there. Fall colors will start very soon too! Bring a good camera! Share your succcess and pics. Stop at the river as you get onto FS6700 on your right side barely 1/8 mile up, there is a small pullover spot on the right off the roads edge. You will see Big $ss Steelhead in the pools! If you have polarized glasses its a great help to see into the pools. Big Boulders/Rocks Are slipperly... Have a fun, safe day out there...

The FS 17/18 road system that runs out or Darrington RD over to the Mt. Baker RD.  Always seen plenty of grouse when traveled that road.  Also out of Quilcene on ther hood canal district FS 2767 if you go back on that road there is a heck of a road system back there I have seen plenty of grouse there and ran into a few hunters to.

Skykomish is also a good area.  Most big game hunters are usually up the Beckler or up near the crest.  I have seen plenty ofngrouse that way to.  I am seeing these while I am working.  I haven't hunted grouse in forever.   Seeing everyone ppst pics makes me want to gwt back into it.
