If you have OnX, just get on there and look for some mixed forest areas with some young alder stands and there will be ruffs hanging around those areas. Thick creek bottoms with berries are a good bet also. I can't speak much on blues, as I only get into those on the east side. It took me a while to find good grouse areas on the west side, but you'll find them if you stick with it. I Just shot a ruffed on the west side this morning  :tup:

Seems like the numbers are low in SW WA this year.  Though there's never a ton of grouse down here, though this year I don't think I've even seen one.

Anybody ever have hives or an allergic reaction to eating grouse or other upland birds?  I've never really pursued grouse too much after eating a Ptarmigan on Adak that one of my assistants had shot and given to me (years ago).  I got hives front and back on my abdomen, so I was never too excited to see if I could get a worse reaction with a second exposure to upland game birds.  Who knows, it my not have been the Ptarmigan that caused the reaction at all.   :dunno:
