White Deer
« on: September 10, 2019, 04:44:00 PM »
From a distance I thought I was seeing a mountain goat...until I spotted fawns and realized I was seeing a rare albino deer!  According to Google, Native American culture believed the occurrence of a white animal was a huge sign of prophecy – a sign from the great spirit that a major shift in their world was to come.  Hmmmm...I wonder if that is a good thing or a bad thing for me?

Saw this trio east of the Colonial Creek Campground on HWY 20 Sunday.

That is really damn cool.
Anybody ever seen an albino whitetail in wa?  I know buckcanyonlodge got pics of a piebald before, and i had no idea we had that gene around here, so curious if any albinos have ever been sighted.

There used to be an Albino doe that hung out by Mumau trucking just outside of Colville on Hwy 20. There also used to be a few that were together in Dry Canyon in 113.

30 years ago I saw a piebald spike a few times between matlock and Shelton and about 25 years ago saw we saw a total albino doe in Weyco up in the vail unit.  Last year there was a really white pintoed doe just south of Chehalis along the freeway.

Probably 15-20 years ago there was an albino cow elk in a herd east of Toledo. Saw it a couple years in a row, then I imagine a bow hunter or cougar caught up with her.

This was 20 or so years ago, but I saw a piebald fork and horn whitetail where Matsen Creek meets 395.
