Anybody hear about a bull poached in Sultan?
« on: September 16, 2019, 09:33:48 PM »
Just heard someone poached a bull in Sultan with a rifle. Years ago I had just launched a drift boat there at the sultan launch and floated around the bend to see a cow elk taking a drink from the skykomish. They sure aren’t there in huntable numbers so that’s a bummer if someone did poach a bull.  :bdid:

I heard a landowner found a bull with a bullet hole in it. I think there was a Facebook post about it but I don’t do Facebook. Just relaying what I’ve heard. Hoping it’s not true.

Wouldn't be the first time, I lived up there for 21 years and MOST years someone was poaching a bull in the Sultan-Goldbar area.  I do not believe that they were ever caught either.

:chuckle: Had to do it.  Glad you got the joke.

Hopefully it is just a rumor and if true hopefully they catch the poacher.

Could be a lost archery bull. It’s possible whoever found it could mistake a broadhead wound channel for a bullet wound. Could even be a bull that was gored by another during a spar but there’s just so few elk there I’m thinking that’s a low possibility.

It was poached and on private property. Investigation in the works but my guess is they will never find them. Sad because there are some decent bulls here but not to many.

Well played.  :chuckle:
:chuckle:  Thanks, that one never gets old for me.

So back on topic, this bull was shot and just left?  Any meat or horns taken?

Poachers suck!
