Ok story time...  My third and final trip.  the first morning out hunting again i drove up to where i had seen a lot of moose sign on my previous trip.  Drove up to the top of the hill and glassed the area for awhile, didn't see any new sign so i started back down the road.  Had reception so i called the wife and talked with the kids before they headed off to school.  started driving again and looked to the left and HOLY CRAP there's a moose right there running into the woods like his butt was on fire.  I through the truck in park and grabbed my gun and headed off after him..  Gone.  Like a ghost..  I ran back to my truck know there is another road that goes to the way he was headed.  So i race down that road and drive past a trail and just happen to glance down it and locked up the brakes.  what the heck was that, through it in reverse and stopped so i could see down the way.  MOOSE.   There he was.  Shocked i saw him again, grabbed my gun again and pulled up on him.  Can't see the vitals, took a couple steps closer and he took off to my right into some thick timber.  i went up to where I saw him last and started looking around and heard stomping to my left.  So i went left to see hooves stomping through the trees.  he was up on this little side hill maybe sixty yards.  pulled up my gun, couldn't see his body at all at this point.  All i could do was watch his hooves run away for about 2 seconds.  Went back to my truck wondering if that was going to be my only opportunity at him and went back to the place i first saw him sense he was headed that way.  got out of my truck there and listened for a second looked around for about 15-20 minutes.  Nothing.  Went back to where I last saw him and in desperation i started calling.  i could hear sticks breaking and something moving in woods.  So i was hopeful, after sitting there calling a little and listening the sound died off and i couldn't hear anything any more, after an hour i decided to go back to where i first saw. so I got back in my truck and drove over there and low and behold a MOOSE, 2 Moose.  Holy crap there multiplying.  Got out of the truck, grabbed my gun, this time they were both standing in the trees about 50 yards in. So i ran in about ten yards to get a more open shot at the bigger of the two and he started running straight away from me.  I started thinking NO he's going to disappear again.  So i gave him a moose call and he stopped and turned broadside, put the cross hairs right on the motor room and squeezed the trigger.  He took off.  The other bull at this point ran off to my right and i never saw him again.  Now to find my bull.  i started walking in the woods at where i shot him at to see if i can pick up a blood trail and i think I walked a little to far and something catches my eye.  There's a moose 20 yards away with his head completely behind a tree.  I pulled up my gun looked through the scope but couldn't see his head, not being a 100% sure that's him i took a couple steps to try and see his head and he took off again.  this time i knew it was my bull by the antlers and he was running lame from my first shot.  I ended up getting another shot in him before i lost site of him.  So then I waited, knowing i got two good shots in i was pretty confident he was going out.  I started walking down a trail and saw blood and broken limbs on the ground and looked up and 20 feet away from there he lays looking around and gasping for breath, put my cross hairs on his neck and lights out.  got back to my truck and texted a local biologist which i am not going to use his name but can't thank him enough.  He came out and helped my get it out and back to my truck with his four wheeler that has tracks (my wife is going to be pissed at me when i buy one of those) and load it whole in the back of my truck and then took me down the road and we used a tractor to lift it out and skinned it out and cut it up right there..  Pretty awesome those guys were so willing to help.  Sorry for the length of this but hope you enjoyed it.
