reach goes to one fish
« on: September 19, 2019, 04:18:03 AM »
Starting Friday, limit drops to one fish. The numbers are starting to look good over mcnary, Looks like the fish are just late this year, my guess is the water was to warm and they held up in the lower river, but I guess that doesn't matter at this point.

Let's do the math: 60,000 more Falls over Bonneville to date, 7,000 less over McNary......hmmm. Seems like the Treaty Tribes are making up for no summer fishery?

There are 150 river miles there for the fish to stack in as well as numerous tributaries.

The fish we have been getting are way darker than normal for this time of year. I don't fish for them after oct 1st, to me that seems to be when you really need to start picking through them. The fish this year are more like the October fish. Like they have been hanging in the river somewhere. Hoping the surge that is coming are better quality. Fishing four days next week. That will probably be it for me.

Leaving in the morning and cant figure out the rule . Can someone explain the " Daily limit 6 , up to 2 adults ( 1 now that they changed it )  can be kept " .  Assuming must be over 12" to keep it and over 24" is adult ?

Yes, that's correct. Once you keep the adult potion of your limit (1 adult) Then you can no longer fish. If you catch 4 jacks before you keep an adult, you can keep them.

I wish they would just keep it at two until the quota is reached then close it. The fish quality is so much better early and they would be left alone while they are spawning. The guides are the only ones I see benefitting from the extending the season.

What happened to make the rules simple and easy to understand?
