Winchester sx3 cracked hammer??

Is this cracked or a manufacturing defect. I have never noticed it before and i think i would have

That's pretty normal for a part stamped or sheared from a larger piece of plate. What you're seeing is where the surface of the material tore a bit during the shear operation; certain steels tend to do that more, or if the shear dies are a little worn. It looks like most of it was ground flat but some of that rough tear line remained. Nothing to worry about, but I suppose it probably doesn't feel like the quality you were hoping for.

That is a shear line where the part was stamped out and the material tore a bit, most likely from worn stamping dies.  Its not a mark that will promote a failure, its just ugly.  Odds are that many of the SX series have the same appearance issues.

I sent the pictures into winchester and they want me send the gun to them at there expense. but after watching a few you tube videos today and looking at a friend of mines.  looks like most of them might look like this. im just going to shoot it. i clean it some what often cant believe i didn't notice it before.
