Rouge, CRV, RAV4,or what?
« on: November 09, 2019, 03:52:04 PM »
The wife is ready to pull the the plug on a new car. Or something with 50k or less on it.

I love my Nissan Frontier Truck. So suggesting the Rouge.
But open to any advice.

Any wisdom out there?

We are in our 60s. She drives 20 miles round trip to work. Most her driving is with in 30 miles of home. Little to no freeway driving.

With those stats, buy her whatever she thinks the cutest is.

We have a rogue and absolutely love it.

I thought the rogue was rough riding, noisy, and had terrible blind spots. Much preferred the Rav4

We recently got a 2019 pathfinder and love it! I think the rogue is comparable in drive and functionality.

My wife just bought a 2019 CRV that she loves, myself, I would have bought something else. I don't like the blind spots. I don't care for the front seats, the seat bottoms seem really short to me, like they barely extend past my ass. I don't like the driver side armrest on the door, its situated so low that I can't reach the steering wheel with my left arm on the rest (I'm 5'9"). And last, for the price of the car, she got the Touring model with all the bells and whistles, the engine is a 1.6L turbo, does ok but our 2012 Kia Rio accelerates about the same at less then half the price, I expected better performance.
Its her car and what she wanted, just wished she would have gotten something I like to drive, I like driving but don't enjoy this car.

No points for me. This is one part of our 33 year marriage where she excels. She can match any salesman on a car lot toe to toe. I know she has drove a couple to drink over the years. Couple sales managers too.

I have never bought a truck since we have been married. Last time I picked out three trucks I liked and turned her loose. Than I just wonder around show rooms and leatherwork them over.
My last two trucks she did all the negotiations. If ya got a ace, play it.

I tried to get my wife to get an all-wheel drive CRV, Rav4, or Rogue a couple years ago, but made the mistake of letting her drive an all-wheel drive Murano instead. :o  The Murano is a great vehicle.

I love my 2016 Frontier SV, I bought it last March to replace my 2007 Dakota.

Maybe a certified pre-owned Lexus RX? Just a more refined RAV4 really. I think they ride really nice and are very comfortable

We sold our 2003 Honda Pilot and bought a 2019. Honda’s are pretty tough to beat for longevity and we find them to be very comfortable and utilitarian. The CRV won all kinds of awards recently I’d give them a serious look

My brother had a CRV, cant remember the year, but I'll say it was a 06-08 model if I had to guess. He put 170k miles on it with no problems and got a ridiculous resale price on it when he sold it.

He said the crv is popular with folks who want to tow a vehicle behind their motorhome because the transmission is capable of being towed in stock form. My neighbor, when he got his motorhome had to spend $5k to modify is Chevy Transverse transmission so it could be towed.

Something to think about.

Oh, and I'm a fan of Nissans. My wifes 05 Pathfinder with 200k miles is as solid and rattle free as the day she bought it with 28k miles.

I’d go rav4 or crv. I had two Nissans that were absolutely terrible and promised myself I’d never own another one. I had a 350z that got lemon lawed and a Murano that needed a $5k transfer case right after the warranty was up. They always look good on paper for the money though.
