Walmart clearance sale on certain ammo
« on: November 15, 2019, 07:15:53 AM »
Walked past the ammo case in the Woodland Walmart and noticed clearance tags on all semi auto pistol and rifle ammo. I was surprised that the .308 stuff was not included but all 9mm, .45 ACP and .223/5.56 was 'slightly reduced' for sale.

Anyone else notice the same at their local Walmart?

They announced the company was going to stop selling handgun ammo back in September along with 2.223/5.56.  They will be selling out of what they have in the pipeline and then only sell long gun and shotgun ammo.  Not sure about stuff that can go either way like .22 but I doubt that will be included in the sellout.

Don’t support companies that don’t support freedom. No integrity for a 75 cent savings. Sad.

If it was 75cents I wouldn’t care but it’s more like 5-10$ a box cheaper than anywhere else. That allows me to purchase a lot more ammo giving me the freedom to shoot more.

Agreed. They could give it away and I wouldn't take it.

What does choosing not to sell something have to do with your freedom? Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't set foot in a Wal-Mart, but for many other reasons.

They are the biggest brick and mortar retailer in the US. By choosing not to sell ammo for semi autos they are effectively limiting the availability to many communities. Since the government can’t ban them this is a work around, a politically motivated decision. The anti gun lobby is chipping away at the 2nd amendment anyway possible, if you don’t hit them back where it hurts, the bottom line, the slide will continue. Anyone or institution that doesn’t support the constitution and related amendments is the enemy of the people and freedom.

Well stated. A side thought I have which some of which is stated above relates directly to our WDFW and good reason for sportsman to hit there pocket book by not supporting fishing/hunting licenses for a few years. Yes do not purchase licenses for a few years and make em squirm.

What if this was the headline:
Walmart to support local gun stores by not selling handgun ammo.

Sure it it is a bad decision for sales but it ultimately helps small gun stores.

I talked to a gun store owner who said that people will actually complain about his prices being a whopping dollar over wal-mart.

I just don't see why I should stop buying groceries there. It's not like Safeway has always sold ammo or something.

I think one difference is that a large corporate entity generally has significant weight with politicians, who will further affect policy.  So, lobbyists and large shareholders might be closer to the hands writing and pushing bills.
The small gunshops might or might not be organized into a groups that have an effective lobby.  I'd guess they are involved with NRA and maybe some sporting organizations--which are mostly entertained by Republican lawmakers.  A corporate store like WalMart might have more influence on both parties (Hillary  :puke: used to be on their board.)  So, with WalMart not carrying a product, does that support of the 2A now decline.  Does it make the issue even more partisan?
