The Lolo and Selway were ground zero for ID wolf introduction. Selway pre wolf elk herd 17+ K, down to 2K now.

I'll be in this country after Christmas looking for wolves. Been doing a ton of research on the topo maps and the ground and have a decent game plan. Guys I talked to who hunted hard this year didn't see a single bull all season.

The one on the right won't last long.
It looks like the wolves ate her head.

"One wolf will kill 20 elk per year," not counting surplus killings,
How many deer will one wolf kill per year? 40 plus?
According to WDFW wolves started "migrating" to WA in 2002. Remember the lie of "first wolf pack in 70 years?

wife and I are taking the trapping certification classes in ID this winter. Where I plan to start trapping and hoping to do my part in helping elk. A guy outta St Maries this year has already filled his 20 wolf tags trapping.

I'll be spending 4-5 nights starting Sunday in the back of my truck up the Lochsa. Hope the temps don't get too cold, but the snow on the ground and forecasted snow is promising for some good hunting.
