 Inside 25

Unfortunately his mains look short, so he’ll likely get a 22 spread credit. :twocents:

I’m pretty sure he was more interested in outside spread than inside spread.

Sorry most refer to inside because that is what you get credit for on score, outside doesn’t count towards your score so not something most are even going think about.

I guess I shouldn’t assume, typically when guys are talking about width of mule Deer they’re thinking outside greatest spread. Even though it’s not part of total inches, it is one of the measurements in the scoring process. When people talk about a 30” buck they are not talking about inside spread.

However, the OP did ask people that know about scoring...

Yeah sorry about that when asked a width I always think of inside.

Line C on a scoring sheet can be confusing because it asks for a greatest spred and line D is your inside spred AND this is the starting point from which your spred credit comes from. Spred credit is only equal to and not to exceed longest main beam anyway.

Also on the sheet is a tip to tip measurement this along with The greatest spred have nothing to do with your end score.

When I had a buck scored last year by a B&C scorer I asked why those columns are in there if they are not used and he said they are kinda more for fun and to get an idea of the overall frame size for reference more than anything.

I'm pretty sure when talking straight up spred most are talking outside spred. In fact I I don't know very many people who would give inside spred if you weren't scoring it.

The magical 30” mark for mule deer is definitely not referring to the inside spread

that’s right, my fault for not being clear on what I intended. I guess I expected that everyone would think like me. Lol
