Way to many kitty cats!!
« on: January 05, 2020, 09:06:46 PM »
Here are a couple cat pics from my last 2 month soak.  I know this is no surprise to any of us.....but there are way to many cats in this state.  Wish there was an effective way to kill a few of these vermin.   :bash: :bash:

Every camera I have out has cougars on it.  They are literally all over the state.  I can't think of one camera that has not captured multiple cougars.  I too hunt them....not overly effectively  :chuckle: :chuckle:  as I have never killed one.  37 years hunting and I have only seen a couple in the field.  I need to learn to hunt them better so I can mark one off my bucket list.

No it appears to be very random, or at least I havent patterned anything.  These three pics are at least two different cats if not all three different.  Cameras are all on the same property.

I think every deer feeder has a cat working it.

Part of the problem with feeders and bait if you ask me. I do it too...not complaining, just saying. Concentrate a bunch of cat food in the same place and the cats will come.
I had 5 different cats on the same camera 5 years ago. Camera was baited with loose sheep salt. They laid in it and pissed on it but I never saw them consuming the salt.

That specific camera gets the least cat activity, though I don't dissagree that if there are deer.....there is likely a cat.  The third picture / camera has hands down the most cat activity.  It is also the camera that gets wolves and yotes.  We call it predator hill.  It is a saddle that seperates a big valley and heavily treed north facing slope.

I should have just said bait in general. You get what I meant though. Lets see some wolf pics! I thought for sure I'd get some wolves but never did. I know they were close.

The reason I ask is I had a cam that in 3 months I had 4 cat appear on my cam and he or she cycled thru almost to the day. Meaning he had a regular route he did and it took that many days to complete it.

This is a couple hundred feet from the third cougar pick.....same saddle.

I found it interesting to see a cat out mid day.  The cat on my property comes through regularly between midnight and 2 am.

Those are strange looking cats and we do have excellent methods of taking cats, they are just illegal.  Remember when Kretz had some luck with his horse issues?  Call WDFW and elected folks early and often.
