Merry Christmas Goose hunt
« on: January 21, 2020, 06:02:12 AM »
My boy’s Christmas present this year were plane tickets to MT so we could go goose hunting with my lifelong best friend. Our trip was epic. My oldest son is going to be a Junior next year and he is really thinking about going to College in MT. Younger brother just wants to move there tomorrow  :chuckle:

What general area of MT was that hunt at?  I love MT, having traveled it extensively for business and now pleasure over the last 20 years.

Where is your boy thinking of going to school?  My daughter attended Rocky Mountain College in Billings her junior-senior year after doing her first two years at Wenatchee Valley College.  She's lived in MT ever since and I see zero chance of her ever leaving there.  Good job, getting married to a born-and-raised small town Montana boy and living in his small town.   Life is good!

Well you if your daughter is in Billings you could go visit her and have this hunt. We were just outside of Billings in Laurel.

My son is only a Sophomore in High School right now so I am sure things will change but right now he is really talking about becoming a RN. MSU (Bozeman) and Montana Tech (Butte) are pretty high on his radar. I went to school in Dillon (time of my life) so I hope that he can make it work.

If you went to school in Dillon then you know that ducks can be found around there.  Butte is Butte.  Weird town but I knew a couple of kids from Billings that went there for engineering and had a great time.  Bozeman is one of those towns with potentially too many distractions for some of the young'uns.

As for your hunt, I thought the pic looked somewhat familiar.  All through that area the birds roost on the Yellowstone River and feed on the corn fields.  Great goose hunting, or so I have heard.

My daughter and fiance now live in Fromberg, south of Laurel, where he grew up.
