Hey Steve, is there certain kinds of woods that work better than others? I have some really nice old growth juniper would that work well? Mule deer skinner made from mule deer habitat?
It is foolish and wrong to mourn these men.  Rather, we should thank god that such men lived.  -General George S. Patton

Hey Karl,  That'd be cool, but I don't recommend Juniper. It's a softwood. Springie, and sappy, so it'd be better than fir or redwood or something, but it'd still wear really fast.

I have some vacuum equipment, but I'm not set up to stabilize right now.

If you are really getting keen on the idea, now that it's in your head, I could get it stabilized by someone set up to do it. (Rick, bearmanric, is set up. I know a few other guys.) Stabilized it'd be fine. Otherwise, it'll wear down and noticeably deteriorate within a few years of use.

Any of your honey holes have hardwoods? Like Oak, or Maple? Madrona from Alaska?!?!

He hasn't done antler yet.... ;-)

I received mine over the weekend. This is a great little knife and a great way to support our youth. Thank you.

Thanks KB. I'm really tickled to have him taking to it and getting it done. He's learning free enterprise thanks to you guys!

That steel is awesome, and he's heat treating and handling it really well. Should be a great little worker for you.

@bearhunter99 , did you get my PM? Need to talk about breaking up your order.
@rainshadow1
I didn’t see a PM?  Maybe try again?  I’ll check and see if inbox is full.  Never mind. It just came up.

I have some Madrone limbs but they aren’t from AK?  Would they work maybe?

Mine came in the mail today also and I couldn't be more pleased. It will get repackaged and off in the mail to my son in Montana tomorrow where I'm sure it will be used this fall.

You should be much more excited for this:

One of these is going to get you something really cool and one of these is going to disappoint you.... again.

This batch took awhile, but I'm really happy about it, because Alex did work at both shops on these! These were worked on in both sides of the State! My house and his Mom's house. (We're setting himself and his brother up to do knives and pens/letter openers/tops etc. over there too.)  So, hopefully no more down time!

I'll be contacting the next ten knife orders to see if they want to choose from this pic... This batch is also Wenge.

You'll be contacted in order.

Next batch will be a mix of micarta, Maple, and I'm not sure what all else.

Soon!
