45 Cal Muzzleloader
« on: March 30, 2020, 03:09:16 PM »
With a change in jobs this year, I'm going to probably go out with a muzzleloader again this coming season for deer (if I don't draw multi-season).  I haven't bought any new gear since 209s were made legal (been using my .50 cal bighorn with #11s since I've started hunting with a muzzleloader), and I want to use this as an excuse to spend some money on a new gun.  I've been sort of set on the knight ultra lite.  I saw that they come in both .45 and .50, and the 45 cal has me sort of intrigued.

From what I can gather, one can load sabotless and drive the same diameter bullets that one would use in a sabot from a .50 cal with more velocity and accuracy.  Downside is that you need to size bullets to fit your barrel(not a big deal for me, i already reload for centerfire and this would mean i'd have to pick up a bullet sizing die).

Anyone here have any experience with .45s?
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun
