Gloves
« on: September 07, 2020, 02:38:44 PM »
Looking for a new pair of gloves specifically for archery hunting during Idaho elk late September. I have a pair of sitka Traverse gloves that work well with shooting/over release but they are tore up and don’t provide much warmth.  Suggestions?

I like the Black Ovis merino gloves for hunting.

I've spent more than my fair share of cash $$$ on fancy gloves.  I have a horrible time with hands getting cold (prior military frost bite deal).  I've settled on mechanix fast fit gloves.  No velcro closures.  Easy on and off.  Works great for the majority of elk season.  When I hunt late season (I'm not a very successful hunter so I usually end up in the losers bowl in November!) I keep mechanix gloves on and have a pair of sealskinz mittens over top.  The mittens peel off easy enough and tug into a pocket or pack strap.  If I lose one over an opportunity at an animal I'm good with that.

I use three different glove depending on weather and temperature.
If mild temps I use Mechanics gloves (most used).
Cold Temps I use Seirus All-weather gloves.
Rain or Snow I use Sealskinz Ultra Grip Lightweight Waterproof gloves.

My favorite glove is in North 40.  They are black, waterproof glomitts.  I stash a hand warmer in the mitt part.  The gloves are fingerless, so it's easy to slip them out of the mitt part and shoot or use a release.  Hands down glomitts are my favorite!  The hard part is finding one that is waterproof, which the ones from North 40 are.

Good topic guys! And for work gloves nothing beats Buckaroo's! Wear a pair for a while and you will see that the right glove can mean everything in a situation.
