Fall is just around the corner. I can already smell the gun powder in the air.  Trying out TSS this season. Should be a great escape. I'll try poking one with an arrow too.

After having a bit of a heat wave in Idaho this morning was cool in comparison. Made me think of fall and early morning hunts.

Dad and me will be out in the Colville area using the wall tent we bought this past Spring. Planning to be there the 19th to the 26th or so. Would be fun meeting some members if they are in the area. May even be some fresh cooked turkey 🦃 if all goes well. Good luck everyone. We're sighting in this week with TSS then rounding up the trip snacks. Fall turkey is my jam.

StovePipe this will be my first ever Fall Turkey, last spring was my first ever solo turkey hunt, what do I need to know about Fall Turkey Hunting? I understand it's not the same.

Heading for a steep and deep archery deer hunt on the 9th of September with my nephew. Can’t wait. Hope that the weather cools down for us. Taking the floor less shelter and stove just in case. High country of Chelan

Best laid plans. My dad had to bag out due to unforeseen medical issues. Add in all the smoke and a dash of COVID and this is going to be interesting. I've decided to bring the rifle too and see if I can fill a bear or cougar tag along with some turkey. This is my favorite trip of the year so I'm going to try and make the most of it. Everybody stay safe out there. Praying for some rain.

My shotgun and choke didn't like TSS at all.  I went back to Longbeard XR's to get the density I wanted.  I may look into a different choke in the future but for now, no TSS for me.  I should probably put what TSS I have up for sale in the classifieds as that stuff is pricey...

I ended up bopping three hens with my shotgun during my September trip. I rolled into town on a Saturday evening and it poured down rain that night which cleared the air up. The next few days were sunny and cool and made for a great experience. I got the chance to use my bow on a small chunk of private land several days in a row and got half a dozen shots off on birds at 20 and 30 yards. I hit two but came away with zero bow kills this time. Tough little guys. I'm excited to get more bow practice and try again in the Spring. The week ended with heavy rain that slowed everything down, including the wildfires, so I didn't mind. My last stand for the trip was an evening hunt where I enjoyed the sounds of rain and some first rate cloud gazing. I've got one tag left and I'm not sure what the plan for it will be. I've still got all my big game tags so I may end up calling it a season.

Some observations from the field. I hunt the Colville area and see birds in the same spots every year. In September the flocks were still small but plenty of them to fill a tag or two. October\November should be great. I touched bases with land owners when I arrived and made some new friends for Spring as well. Be considerate of people's space when knocking doors and you'll know pretty quick how they feel about current health issues and whatnot. I had no issues at all, but your mileage may vary. Good luck to everyone and don't let deer and elk distract from all the top rated turkey hunting available. 8)
