Sherman Pass Huckleberries
« on: August 12, 2020, 08:14:20 AM »
Thinking about heading that way for a few days and wondering if anyone has a report on the huckleberries? Are there any, ripe, etc.
Thanks

Our last day of picking on Sherman this year was July 17. 5K' elev. With the heat we've had, I surely can't imagine any left where I pick.

Some areas had very light berries this year, sounds like they are good in some areas and not in others.

:yeah: the South faces were loaded at lower elevations but I'm sure they have been scorched out.

My wife and friend went up the other day, berries were pretty scattered and picked over, they may have just not found the right spot. They went to a different area the next day and did much better. But there are still berries on if you find the right spot.

I was up there last week and we did really well. We were right around 4,000 feet and south facing BUT we were in some pretty shady areas. It felt like they had just recently turned...not like they were falling off the bushes yet.

I’d agree.   Some of the berries I saw where still pale red or green. South facing but I was at 5800- 6500.   Raspberries will be ready next week.  Few were good but most needed a few days or more
