Swanderek - what unit is that buck from??   That buck is so interesting - well outside the norm for anything North of Southern OR or CA BTs, though they appear out of nowhere sometimes.  It's night and day different from the standard lower hills/coastal BT.  Maybe just got a set of good genes from one or both parents.  Very cool buck, wherever it took it's last breath.

Friends of the friends of the hunter and know where it was shot. Lowland BT, that is all I will say. Photo I have she isn't long arming. Its a stud, 3 or 4 in inches beyond the ears.

10 years since my last deer and this one almost didn't happen.  We were all packed up and ready to head down the mountain when this stud decided to cross the road above camp.  Fifteen minutes of chaos and searching, I was finally able to put this buck down for a dirt nap.  Couldn't have done it without my buddies and thankful for all their help.

My first deer.
700 yard stalk
Shot at 160 yards
7000 feet of elevation and over 3 miles pack out.
Could not have done it without the help of my friend Chris who spotted it and insisted that there were bucks in the area. Also thanks to Harry who was also spotting and helped with the pack out.
My son Kyle was also part of the original spotting of the buck but was not able to be there 5 days later when I shot him.
I am thankful for all of the guys in my hunting camp who invited me 5 years ago and have been outstanding encouragement and excellent friends. They were as excited as I was!
There is a long list of people who have contributed to my hunting experience over the past several years which came together this week. I am thankful for all of them and value their help.

This includes this forum which was a big part of my initial education as I started hunting later in life.
