Typically hunt the late archery season but schedule constraints forced me to bring out the rifle this year.  Had a blast but already missing the prospect of sitting in my blind in the middle of the rut.

My first deer.
700 yard stalk
Shot at 160 yards
7000 feet of elevation and over 3 miles pack out.
Could not have done it without the help of my friend Chris who spotted it and insisted that there were bucks in the area. Also thanks to Harry who was also spotting and helped with the pack out.
My son Kyle was also part of the original spotting of the buck but was not able to be there 5 days later when I shot him.
I am thankful for all of the guys in my hunting camp who invited me 5 years ago and have been outstanding encouragement and excellent friends. They were as excited as I was!
There is a long list of people who have contributed to my hunting experience over the past several years which came together this week. I am thankful for all of them and value their help.

This includes this forum which was a big part of my initial education as I started hunting later in life.

When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter
