Hunting at Scatter Creek?
« on: September 19, 2020, 11:45:49 AM »
We usually can hear the gunshots after 8:00 am from the wildlife area on the weekend when the pheasant season is open.  I didn't hear them.   I think today and tomorrow were supposed to be the kids days, followed by the over 65 bunch and then everyone for the rest of the season.  Does anyone know of any change in dates?     Diane

Youth is 9/19-9/20
65+ and Disabled is 9/21-9/25

Maybe they aren't planting at Scatter Creek?

Very correct. Nice to have the youth waterfowl a different weekend. I recall maybe a recent fire? that may have nixxed the hunt.

Up date:  We could hear shooting in the wildlife area on Sunday, probably the youth hunters.  So Monday late morning, I took my Griffon. Camie, to the wildlife area.  We saw one other hunter and one bird.  Tuesday afternoon we hunted again, no other hunters on our side, but Camie found and pointed a nice, big rooster that we took home.  Wednesday morning, it's pouring rain and I'm on the computer.    Diane

Diane,  today is a good day to stay home on the computer. Congrats on getting a rooster, it sounds like Camie is earning her keep.

Only hunted there a couple times when I lived in Grand Mound. Passed a shot on one as a guy was in line a couple hundred miles away. He shot it and brought it over to me to give it to me while thanking me for not shooting at him. The other time, I got two, got back to the truck to find one in the bed. Not sure how it got there, but was glad I didn't get checked on the way out.  :yike:
