121 moose acess
« on: September 24, 2020, 10:34:55 AM »
Hi everyone, I am one of the lucky dogs that got drawn for antlerless moose in 121. I just checked the web site of Handcock forest managment and is says all there lands are closed until farther notice. I am planing on being over there in 121 on the Oct 1 on the opening day of the season and I wondering if anyone knows when they might be re opening there lands? I know DNR and EIP lands are open. I don't know the area that well, and just wondering how big of a impact that closed lands are going to have on access to areas that are open. As in closed rds, cause they pass though closed lands. Always open to any tips or recommendations. Thanks.

That does close down some good moose country for the time being but it shouldn't have an impact. If your plan was just to peruse everything that is open and huntable, that wont slow you down. I can't think of any gated roads on Hancock land that would prevent you from getting onto IEP, State, or Federal land but I could be forgetting something.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

Saw this gal and guy in 121 this morning. State land access that goes into Inland Paper. We got a ton of rain last night so hopefully that helps with the Handcock re opening. Anybody with a tag that wants information shoot me a PM. I don't know anything about moose as far as how far they travel or what's a good bull but I would have shot him lol.

I've been the area 121 for a few days.
I think it's awesome that your following the rules.
But there is no lack of people up there ,seen someone camped on Handcock this mourning and they have been there a few days.
I guess my point is,if you had something planned I would go for it. It's not stopping anyone else.
I rather piss in the wind, then have piss down my back.
