Really excited about this season!!!

Excited about this waterfowl season! Granddaughter passed her hunter safety course 2 days ago and wants to hunt. She’s got a new retriever thats 6 months old that she has been working with all summer. We went out to pump out the pit blind 2 days ago and birds were all around us. The pup was really birdy yet easy to handle. Around 200 ducks and 100 geese have been using the place for the last week. Mallards are colored up good. Some pintails and wigeon showed up this week and colored up more than expected. The GWT are not colored up yet. Ringed necks are here and looking good. Even a few woodducks around. Really excited for this season!!!!

Even had 18 specks land on the place today though they didn’t stay very long....30-45 minutes.

I saw two big flocks of specs this evening near the river. They were the first I’ve seen this year which is late for specs.
Have fun with the granddaughter. I’m taking my daughter deer hunting for the first time this weekend. Should be interesting.

Let me see if I understand this correctly. Duck hunting with your granddaughter, with a new dog, on good property. Does it ever get better than that?

I’m pretty stoked. It’s been a work in progress for a few years that’s starting to bloom/pan out!

Hopefully it'll be a good year. Kinda sad I'm losing all the public hunting spots up north. Jealous you guys have it nice with a pit. Best of luck hunting with a new shooter!

We did loose some spots from the private lands program as well as WDFW's dike destruction program on state land.
