Buddy looking to buy, big game rifle....
« on: October 22, 2020, 12:23:39 PM »
Throwing this out there for a friend.

Looking for good shooting rifle. Caliber not a major factor,  think deer, elk, bear. With scope is a big plus, with a break is nice. All weather or stainless a plus. He is not brand specific and is an average shooter. Sum moa not required but reliable and consistent is of course. We can load for it but factory ammo dialed in a plus. Located in Lake Stevens,  local is preferred.

Budget is between 1k and 1500.

Thanks

I built my Savage 26 nosler for less then $1500. If he builds and goes with a 26 or 28 nosler I have go gauges he can borrow.

Browning Hells Canyon Speed 6.5 Creedmoor factory brake
Leupold VX-5HD 3-15 windplex reticle
CDS Dial set @200 zero banging steel at 600
60 or so hand loads of 143gr ELD-X @ 2750fps H4350 powder
Sub .5" groups
Less than 150 rounds down the tube

Extremely low recoil

$1650

Rifle is $1049
Scope is $949
Good luck finding ammo

Oh and Leupold Alumina flip scope covers that cost $100

And my guy will continue to make the ammo and mail it to you in a week for better than store prices with no out of stock issues.

You can shoot it at my place out to 200 if you want.

Does he have a weight limit? Short action/long action. Ammo availability?does he reload?

I have a savage 10T I might decide to part with. .308 win caliber. Thing is heavy though with the heavy barrel and accustock.  It's ~ 9.5lbs bare rifle.

Only 2 defining forces sacrificed themselves for you:
The American Soldier and Jesus Christ. One died for your freedom, the other for your soul.

My rock,
He trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle.
