Chewuch Quality Deer
« on: October 23, 2020, 01:22:11 PM »
I was lucky enough to draw a chewuch quality deer tag this year. I have spent  some time in the unit A few years ago. I am just curious if anybody has spent some time in there this year and what your opinion is on deer population? I have heard it is really bad over there. Hopefully we get some snow up high to push them down.

You shouldn’t have a issue, there will be plenty of deer running around for you to check out.
The things that come to those who wait, may be the things left by those who got there first!

Might be a few less deer to choose from as all this snow this last weekend of the season along with the later season are helping harvest rates.
Cut em!

Following,
This would be my OIL Mule Deer hunt in WA.
Only 2 defining forces sacrificed themselves for you:
The American Soldier and Jesus Christ. One died for your freedom, the other for your soul.

My rock,
He trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle.

I just got back, I was fortunate enough to have killed a big 4 by 5, 388 lbs and thats not counting the pile of guts, got close to 250lbs of meat :yike:. Was in a migration route and he came down with 7 other bucks 2 days before the storm hit, 2 were bigger than him, we were over 5 miles from any road and where we were it was 6 degrees. Its not as good as it was 20 or more years ago, not even close but as Ive always said you can still bump into a buck at any time, just get off the beaten track, its a huge unit, the higher you can get, the colder you get and the more miserable you are is where you will see the big boys, just my opinion and :twocents:

250#? Dang that’s a little less then I got off a mature bull elk this fall. That must be a record size deer by .. 100#?

Wow do you have pics of this 400 pound buck? I’d love to see that.

OP. Have you been to Chewuch in the last couple years?  We've been there looking around during late hunt season (just from the roads) a couple years, but didn't see anything worth burning a quality tag.   Report back, love to hear how it goes for you!!

And a 400lb deer? Lets see pics of that thing!
