GMU 233 - Pogue help
« on: October 28, 2020, 08:26:01 AM »
Good morning.  I'm considering a weekend trip to GMU 233 but have never been there.  I'm hoping someone can suggest a good area, access road, etc to gain access.

Thank you.

Rob

Have you explored the harvest reports for elk in that unit?

I think there was a herd near loup loup ski area some years ago but definitely not a lot of elk up there IMO. But if you can get some intel on where they are at or have been recently why not  give it a try? Best of luck

Nice area to spend the weekend prowling around anyway. I can think of worse ways to spend it.
I hunt, therefore I am.... I fish, therefore I lie.

Couldn't really help you for elk. I've hunted a lot up there and I don't think I've ever once seen an elk anywhere in that unit. Heard that they've been seen around Conconully.  :dunno:

2 general season antlered elk killed in the Pogue last year, which is 2 more than I expected to find.
So there are some somewhere for sure.
