what would be the "shelf life" on primers if kept in a decent, dry  location ?  i know i've shot rounds from WWII and those are obviously 80 years old
I have shot some WWI ammo, about 50% still work.
Primers if stored in ideal conditions, dry, cool and low humidity. Have a life span longer than you.
Very true, I've fired one or two Civil War musket caps just very dirty compared to modern.

So I could be confident that the ones I have dated from 94 that are in my basement and have not been wet or major temp swings would still be good?

I have been thru several Primer shortages.

If stored as you describe, yes.

not trying to jack the thread but i have a WWII Russian tokarov that my grandfather brought back (i actually have the government paperwork from him bringing it home) and a box of shells that still go bang.  bought some new rounds for it (7.62X25).  That thing is cool.  still have a bunch of the "original" rounds

You could always load up 10 and fire the empty cases or just hit them with a hammer.

Interesting video.  Regarding comments about pricing.  Continuing to post in manner clearly directed at a classified ad here will get the thread removed just like your comnents in the ad itself.  People can, and will ask whatever they are looking to get and if folks buy it that is their choice.

On gun broker and arms list for $.25 a pop
and in the classifieds....

At twice the normal price for half the amount

More than twice the normal amount on several of them. This is why I refuse to use gunbroker... eBay won’t allow price gouging and will shut your account down but gun broker could care less. I get that it is up to the customer and if they are willing to pay it then it’s their choice but it screws the rest out of a normal deal.

In my view, it's like a 67 Vette, you want one, supply and demand will apply.

For very limited things like gas and food during an emergency, sure, but for stuff that is a want, arms length transactions are the backbone of capitalism.

PRIMER APOCALYPSE 2020
with that said I'm not dying for them have enough going into next hunting season .But will need to find some at some time in 2021 for 2022 season but maybe not might have enough for both seasons but I won't pay highway-supply and demand slobs . I will buy factory ammo before that happens .

I’ve got plenty for now, I’ve got my “notify me when in stock” options on several websites and all my family members know to grab what I need most.

I am in the same boat 500 CCI250s and 500 FED215s.  But powder is getting REAL low.  I will hold out until things get better before restocking.

Lol primers are hardly a 67 vette ... they are more like the TP Of 2020 😂
