Congratulations!

Two thoughts:

(1) Your mother carried out the two front quarters??  Did I read that correctly.  You are the luckiest son alive.

(2) With the rack on your back, you look like a midget.  Holy Smokes, that is a beautiful elk.

1) Yes she did! And yes I am!

2) I'm 8' tall, so the bull is huge! Haha, I'm 5'-11".

Congratulations on a great hunt and a great bull! It's so awesome you were able to share the experience with family. The video is awesome, your brother did a great job capturing it.

One of the best write ups I have read in a very long time.  And the video really staples down the memories.  I'd watch that on the daily, if I were you.

Congrats to you.

Thank you for sharing, and congrats on your awesome family!
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

Just watched the video. It was awesome. I'll admit I fast forwarded through some of the early stages, but then I re-winded as best I could to see what I missed! That approach by the bull and your shot was intense. It made perfect sense especially after having seen Steve Rinella shoulder punch that bull that got away. The straight shot into the chest was the best bet in that situation, otherwise risk the shot or have to let it walk if no shot presented the right way. Thank you very much for sharing all of that

Excellent write up! My mind is truly saturated with the rich and powerful memories of the hard work, time spent, the bugles, the pounding heart beats, and the gratitude of the harvest. We're blessed with the most incredible family! I'm glad we were able to get it on film. Your boys will share with their boys, and their boys, and so on. I get goosebumps everytime I think about the experience! You're a great hunter and you earned every savory bite of that animal. Can't wait to get him back from the taxidermist. Congrats man!
